Welcome to the Department of Electronics at Carleton University. Together with our sister Department of System and Computer Engineering we offer programs in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering. We are one of the largest and most research intensive departments in CAD for electronic circuit design, RF and microwave circuits, photonics and integrated circuit technology. The source of our success is due to our outstanding and internationally respected faculty members.

Professor Calvin Plett wins IEEE Outstanding Service Award

Professor Clavin Plett won the IEEE Outstanding Service Award at the IEEE Ottawa Section annual general meeting. The award was presented for three decades of service to the IEEE Carleton University Student Branch and the IEEE Ottawa.

Dr. Pavel Cheben receives Public Service Award of Excellence

Dr. Pavel Cheben receives a Public Service Award of Excellence.

An authority in photonics and integrated optics whose discoveries have advanced many disciplines and brought global attention to Canadian research, Dr. Cheben is widely regarded as the father of subwavelength integrated photonics.

His work includes the discovery of a unique optical waveguide and integration of the Fourier transform spectrometer onto a monolithic chip that has light-gathering capabilities over 100 times that of conventional devices.
