Department of Electronics

Welcome to the Department of Electronics at Carleton University. Together with our sister Department of System and Computer Engineering we offer programs in Electrical Engineering , Engineering Physics, Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering. We are one of the largest and most research intensive departments in CAD for electronic circuit design, RF and microwave circuits, photonics and integrated circuit technology . The source of our success is due to our outstanding and internationally respected faculty members

University expertise develops X-ray sensor for Canadian biomedical company

Dr. Langis Roy, and his team are developing a tiny wireless sensor that can precisely monitor and control X-ray administration in a range of processes. Dr. Roy is a Carleton University professor and Associate Dean with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. He and his students are working with the Ottawa-based company, Best Medical Canada Ltd., a component of the multinational Best Medical International, on a sensor embedded in a chip.

NSERC grant boosts research on tiny sensor with great potential in biomedicine

With a new $25,000 grant in hand, electronics Prof. Langis Roy is pushing ahead with a wireless radiation sensing device that has enormous potential application in the medical field.

Carleton sweeps IDeA contest: accessible design top three spots

A lower-cost, more functional prosthetic hand produced on a 3-D printer won the top prize in the Council of Universities’ (COU) Innovative Designs for Accessibility (IDeA) student competition, designed to break down barriers to accessibility for persons with disabilities.
